Imagine that you are entering an air-conditioned restaurant after being outside on one of the hottest days of the summer, and the first thing you reach for is a glass of ice cold water.  Do you feel that water satisfying your thirst?  Water quenches our thirst better than any other liquid could.

Now imagine you are in the desert without the wonderful substance known as water.  You are feeling the intense heat of the sun with no shade to be seen.  At some point you will not be able to continue without water.

Why am I talking about water?  It might be because my family wants me to start drinking more of it!  Water is necessary in the natural realm, but the “living water” Jesus spoke about is necessary in the spiritual realm.  When we are experiencing this thing called life, sometimes it feels too much for us and we become stressed, depressed, disgusted, and downcast.

This “living water” Jesus spoke about is the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity; God the Father; God the Son; and God the Holy Spirit.  When we accept that we are barren and dry (thirsty) and need someone or something to help us, Jesus is there.  According to the Bible, if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved.  The Bible also says that the “living water”, the Holy Spirit, will come into our bodies and take residence. How amazing to think that the very God who created everything lives in us.  Because He lives in us, we never have to thirst again.  Jesus gave that exact message to a woman He met by a well.  After telling this woman that He was the Messiah, she ran and told the people of her village what had happened.

She told them about a God that is more than enough.  Our God is more than enough for any situation in your life.  Our God walks and mountains tremble.  Our God speaks and things begin to shake.  Our God says let there be light and there is light.  Our God laughs at His enemies.  Our God will surely deliver us from Satan’s trap.  Our God has defeated Satan, death hell and the grave.  Our God is a strong tower that we can run into.  Our God is a might fortress.  Our God will raise a standard when the flood comes.  Our God will never leave thee.  Our God will never fail you.  Our God is love.  Our God forgives our sin.  Our God forgets our sin.  Our God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow we can count on Him.  Our God is steadfast.  Our God neither slumbers nor sleeps.  Our God is closer than a brother.  Our God has our rear guard.  Our God made us in His likeness and image.  Our God breathed His breath of life in us.  Our God is jealous over us.  Our God is a consuming fire.  Our God is the Rose of Sharon, the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, the Wonderful Counselor, the Prince of Peace, the Mighty God, the Ancient of Days, our Redeemer, the Alpha and the Omega, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords just to mention a few names of God.  God is our healer Jehovah Rophe, our provider Jehovah Jireh, our captain Jehovah Nissi, our God Almighty El Shaddai.

So, if you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, now is a good time.  Be straight and admit you, like us all, have sinned and fallen short, that you want to change (repent), and ask Jesus into your heart.  When you do this, you will be filled with that “living water” the Holy Spirit.  If you already know Jesus and the world is pushing you down, let the “living water” flow all over you.  Begin to praise God for all He is and all He is doing on your behalf that you cannot even see.  Remember the prophet’s servant could not see that there were greater of them in the battle until God opened his eyes.  There is greater in the battle for you right now than you can see.

Come on in the water is great!
