How God must be exasperated with us, His creation. We, being Christians, sometimes act with disrespect for God and His word. Sometimes, when watching us in our daily lives, it might be hard to differentiate us from the heathens. Paul, the Apostle, asked, “who will deliver me from this bondage”? When Paul wanted to do right, he would do wrong. If you fit this description, then take courage because you serve the God of second chances. God not only wants us to have eternal life with Him but to walk on this earth with Him.
King David could tell us about God’s mercy. David was on his rooftop and witnessed a beautiful woman, Bathsheba, bathing. David should have fled knowing sin was lurking at his door. After having relations with Bathsheba, she became pregnant with David’s child. David could not deny this sin because it would become public knowledge. Bathsheba’s husband, Uriah, was in battle, where David should have been for it is written at the time when Kings go to battle David was at home. David tried to fix his sin by having Uriah come home from battle and have relations with his wife. However, Uriah, was more honorable than David and would not leave his men. David was then forced to have Uriah die in battle thus compounding his sin. There was blood on David’s hands and he was full of sin. David did not go to the Father and ask forgiveness, or even ask how God could have solved his problem. Nathan, a prophet, came to David and told David a story of a man who, even though he had many sheep, took the one sheep of this other man. David’s sin had been exposed by God. David repented and God forgave him.
Moses was a great man in the old testament, yet he sinned when he killed the Egyptian soldier beating the Hebrew. Moses ran to the wilderness and spent forty years. Moses no longer enjoyed Pharaoh’s household and all its delicacies. Moses seemed forsaken and forgotten. God had not forgotten Moses. God revealed himself as a burning bush and spoke with Moses. Moses was given a second chance and God used Moses to deliver His people from Egypt and lead them in the wilderness.
Our Father will forgive you too. There is never a reason to run from God when you have sinned. Run to the Father as did the prodigal son. The Father will meet you before you get to Him. God is always waiting for us to repent, so that He can forgive us.
Our Father loves you.
